Play Gameboy (GBA Emulator) On iPhone For Free (iOS 6)

            Ever since I started jailbreak in the days of iPhone Software 2 I thought emulators were one of the coolest additions available. If you don’t know, an emulator allows you to simulate a video game console inside of a program and can load game files, otherwise known as ROMs. Recently, ZodTTD released a beta version of an updated version of his GBA emulator, gpSPhone v8.0.0.
The update to gpSPhone adds an easy way to download roms onto your device by tapping the magnifying glass on the top right. This will lead to a search powered by CoolRoms. CoolRoms has a mobile layout that makes it extremely easy to download and play almost any game you want. Note that it is illegal to download roms in which you do not own a physical copy of.
On top off the rom finding connivence this new update offers a smoother interface and all around better working application. Many people have reported crashing on launch and this is most likely because of the nature of the beta. All significant errors should be fixed by public release. The controls now strech to the sides of the five inch screen on newer devices, however, due to the GBA resolution the playing screen will not fit the full five inch screen.

iOS Version 6.1.3 was released to today, and it patches the Evasi0n Jailbreak as we warned our viewers earlier.
Warning: If you are on any device other than the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, or iPod Touch 4G STAY ON 6.1.2 OR LOWER. Updating your device to 6.1.3 will cause it to be non jailbreakable and non downgradable. We also recommend all users stay on 6.1.2 or lower as evasi0n is a much better jailbreak.

Redsn0w can jailbreak the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, or iPod Touch 4G semi-untethered (meaning you will need to run the last steps every time your device shuts down). This can be annoying so like we said previously this is only for people already on 6.1.3.

Steps
1. Download Redsn0w 0.8.15b3 from our Download Page and open it. On Windows set the compatibility mode to Windows XP Service Pack 2 and open it by right clicking and selecting run as administrator.
2. Connect your device to your computer via USB.
3. Click “Extras” followed by “Select IPSW” then select the 6.0 firmware files respective to your device. We are using 6.0 instead of 6.1.3 because the Redsn0w was intended for 6.0.[Download]
4. Navigate back to the start and click “Jailbreak”.
5. Hit Continue and make sure “Install Cydia” is checked, when prompted to enter DFU mode do so with the instructions on the screen. Watch our video tutorial for details.
6. Once Redsn0w completes close out, your device is now jailbroken but not ready for use.
Since this jailbreak is Semi Untethered you will need to complete steps 7-8 every time your device powers down completely or restarts. You will also have to do these steps now, or Cydia will not open.
7. Open Redsn0w, go into ”Extras” > “Select IPSW” enter the 6.0 files.
8. Select “Just boot” and then follow the process until Redsn0w is finished.
Your device should boot up tethered and working.

iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak – Update

Update: Recent tweet from pod2g suggest that iOS 5 untethered jailbreak will work on iOS 5.0.1 as well. Recently he tested iPhone 4 running iOS 5.0.1, and he confirmed on Twitter that you are now free to update your A4-based iDevices to latest iOS 5.0.1 as untethered jailbreak would also work on the new iOS 5.0.1.

So, first off, Charlie Miller showed us all that Apple’s iOS 5 had some bug which was probably going to be serious down the lane. It was a bug known by Apple coders, because they needed to fire up Mobile Safari faster and had to use some exception – which caused the bug to be readily available for hackers like Miller.

Once it’s on the internet, Apple of course, gets all the details. It worked up a patch – and the bug vanished. That’s where iOS 5.0.1 update comes up. So if you have updated to the latest version of iOS 5, you are technically safe from any app attacking through that security hole.

But, @pod2g has tweeted about this update. And that’s not good news for jailbreakers and the likes.

The Chronic Dev Team that’s been working on the untethered iOS 5 jailbreak says if you need to jailbreak your iOS 5 device, you should not update it to iOS 5.0.1 because that might simply make the jailbreak non-workable. That’s some news people should know, if you intend to wait and get the untethered iOS 5 jailbreak.

The untethered jailbreak – as mentioned before on our website – is a boon because it lets you reboot your iPhone or iPad without having to connect it to the PC/Mac and run the jailbreaking software. You can just use your iPhone or iPad without worrying about it freezing because of the jailbreak.

There are several people working on the jailbreak. We had a tethered and semi-tethered iOS 5 jailbreaks come up on the radar sometime back – but these worked on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS devices only. The untethered iOS 5 jailbreak that @pod2g talks about – if it turns out into a software hack (which it increasingly seems like) – could be very much workable on iPhone 4S – which would open quite a lot of possibilities for developers!

Here are few things to keep in mind before proceed for iOS 5 Untethered Jailbreak.
